On Friday, August 16th, over 100 esteemed guests joined sixteen students who are participating in first the From HERE to CAREER! Academy pathway. Business and community leaders celebrated as the Industrial Systems Technology Cohort signed a letter of commitment to the program.

This signing ceremony celebrated the students’ commitment to Catoosa County Public Schools and Georgia Northwestern Technical College.  Students also had an opportunity to network with regional business partners. These students, who are enrolled in the Mechatronics pathway, will develop technical and professional skills, and they will participate in real-world industry experiences.

After the ceremony, students listened to employers in the region including: McKee Foods, Propex, Roper, Shaw, and Sika. Each business provided an inside look at the company and discussed jobs that will be available when students graduate.

“I’ve always been interested in robots and the future. The word ‘mechatronics’ intrigued me. My aspiration is to start my own business and visit space,” said Zach Adams, “I like to learn. Honestly, that’s my favorite part [of the cohort].”
